"I think you should consider being a teacher, Jorlie. I've always been very happy teaching. I think you would do well."

Jorlie was surprised at that advice. She had never considered teaching. It didn't seem possible for someone with so many questions and so few answers.

Her teacher was a smart rabbit, though, and Jorlie thought she must surely know about these matters.

hat afternoon Jorlie thought about what Miss Berryhill had said. She liked school, but could it be that teaching was the one best way for her to spend her life? She pondered and pondered, then finally decided. "Yes" she would be a teacher!

"Teaching is a fine occupation, Jorlie, but you are just not suited for it. There have never been teachers in our family. And why do you want to be more than a mother? I've always been happy being just a mother, and you will too."
