Welcome to page sixty of a journey through the year 2002 in my garden.
Fourth Week of July

T
emperatures around 100 all week and no rain have been hard on the garden. The lilies are gone, except for a straggler or two. The Stella de Ora daylilies, pictured last, are still trying, but they are few. Only hot weather flowers can flourish in this kind of heat. The Althea, a winter hardy variety of hibiscus in the first picture, is doing well. So are the lantanas. The orange variety pictured is a perennial.
