zinnias like hot weather, too, and I wish I had more of them now. The only zinnias that I have this year are these volunteers. They are not really coming up in a spot I would have chosen, but I'm letting them be.

T he last two pictures are foliage plants that do well in summer heat. The first is caladiums and the last is an ornamental sweet potato called "blackie." Because of their contrasting colors, they look good against the green of most garden foliage. With much fewer blooming plants this time of the summer, they are very welcome.
