Longwood Gardens
Before we headed up through Amish country, we took in the wonderful Longwood Gardens not far from Kenneth Square, PA. It amazed me to learn that the gardens were begun in 1798 and by 1850, it was one of the finest arboretums in the nation. It wasn't until 1907 to 1954 that the gardens and fountains there today were designed.  The wonderful main fountain was not working at the time. How I wish it had been.

There was a lot of green in the gardens and far fewer beds of flowers than I expected of over a thousand acres of public garden, but the grounds were so magnificent that I didn't really miss the color.
