Amish Horse and Buggy
The Amish don't drive automobiles or tractors, so they go everywhere in horse-drawn buggies. We saw many of them while we were in Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. They were usually good-looking horses and often running at a pretty good clip. It reminded me of the movie "Friendly Persuasion". .  Chris and I took a ride in a buggy. Jake, our Amish driver offered to take our picture with my camera, but he would not let us take his. Photographs, he explained, are graven images and against his religion. I wish he had included more of his horse, Willie, in the picture, but maybe Willie is Amish, too.
Work horses two Amish horses
These work horses on the left were on a genuine working Amish farm that we visited while on our buggy ride. After being unharnessed, they headed for the barn on their own. One of the children of the family ran out when our buggy came. She had a lemonade stand where she also sold home-made souvenirs. We saw lots of horses in Lancaster County. I suspect these on the right are destined to pull buggies.
