Chris and I discovered an intriguing little town, named Port Deposit. It is positioned in a narrow strip between a steep cliff and the Susquehanna River near the north end of the Chesapeake Bay.  The rocky cliff is the back yard of all of the houses along the east side of the street.

Little Port Deposit is not an affluent town. That is obvious, although there is a complex of new condominiums on the waterfront where some people who commute to jobs elsewhere have recently chosen to live. From talking to some of the locals, we sensed that the townies are not all that accepting of the city people who now live in the new complex, though many locals found work during the construction of the buildings. We found the town folk very friendly, however, and proud of their little town's history. Port Deposit is on the verge of becoming another kind of town, and in a way, it is a shame. As far as we were able to tell, it has not yet been discovered by tourists, but I'm sure it is only a matter of time. After all, we found it.
