Roger's Tavern
We stayed in Perryville, Maryland the first night of our trip. We drove around the little town to see what was there. Actually we were looking for ice cream when we happened onto this old stone tavern. The sign read Rodger's Tavern, and a man who dropped by told us that George Washington had slept there on several occasions. Whether that was true or not -- and I have no reason to doubt it -- the tavern was interesting. We were glad we talked to the man because he also told us where we could get some ice cream.

The tavern was next to the Susquehanna River at the top of Chesapeake Bay across from Havre de Grace. The gazebo in the back would be a wonderful place to see the sun go down. We had something cold and sweet on our minds, though, so we didn't stick around.
